According to Kiminini County Police Commander John Onditi, the three were arrested in a rental house inside the Kimini business center, where the two wheels were found.

The police chief said the arrests followed a few weeks of investigation after the May 19 incident, in which five EACC vehicles were destroyed by angry youths who arrived at Natembeya residence in the mountainous area Kitale during the invasion.

He noted that locals played a major role in helping the police identify the suspects.

Police believe the tires would be sold to unconscious people like second -hand.

“The arrest has been facilitated by citizens who gave our officials the intelligence information.

Names of suspects found with EACC’s tires tires

The arrests were identified as Nickson Mutuku, Jacob Wekesa and Kevin Wikeike. The suspects are expected to be brought to the Kitale court to answer charges of handling stolen goods or goods.

“Either the three destroyed EACC cars or bought tires from the destroyers for the purpose of sale again for profit.

Onditi has also called on the public to volunteer to provide more information that could lead to the arrest of more suspects of the incident.

The recent events come as an investigation is ongoing about the violent incidents witnessed when the EACC invaded Natembeya’s house.

The EACC said the search was part of their investigation into the allegations of corruption linked to the governor about several KSh 1.4 billion bids.

Natembeya since then has been brought to court, where orders were issued to prevent him from coming to his office at Kitale County headquarters in the city for 60 days to allow the completion of the ongoing investigation.

However, the governor later received orders to suspend the corruption case.
