Nairobi – The Independent Police Management Authority (IPOA) has provided more information on the investigation of blogger Albert Omondi Ojwang.

Who has been interviewed about Albert Ojwang’s death?
Speaking in the Senate on Wednesday, June 11, IPOA deputy chairman Ann Wanjiku issued a statement about the move to identify Ojwang’s killing.
The IPOA deputy chairman revealed that 17 police officers had been called to record their information.
Wanjiku noted that so far, 13 officials have written their reports about what happened on the night that Ojwang was killed.
Among the reporters are the detainees detained by the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja and the officers DCI Arrested Ojwang at Homa Bay.
“They were called and started arriving in front of the investigative team on Wednesday. They are also recording information related to what happened. So far, 13 have written their statement,” he noted.
What witnesses said about Albert Ojwang’s death
In his presentation, Wanjiku indicated that Ojwang might have been killed inside his cell at the police station.
Preliminary IPOA tests show that Ojwang was detained alone in cells when he arrived at the Police Station.
The two Witnesses in the vicinity and the one in which the blogger was being held heard a loud scream on the night he died.
“We have found that Ojwang was alone in cells. And in neighboring cells, we have recorded information from two witnesses who said they heard loud screams from Albert Ojwang’s cell,” Wanjiku said.
Who is the chief suspect of Albert Ojwang’s murder?
Meanwhile, the Director of Criminal Investigation, Amin Mohamed, who also arrived in the Senate, told the senators that Samson Taalam, the chief police officer, should be considered the chief suspect of the Ojwang murder.
According to Amin, preliminary investigations showed that the front office officer called Talam, but refused to put the suspect.
He strongly defended DCI officials who arrested Ojwang at Homa Bay, insisting that they had done him well.
According to Amin, the deceased was taken directly to the Police Station after arriving in Nairobi.
