How was baby Blessing captured
According to Chepkoech Songok, the baby’s grandmother, the events that led to the disappearance of the baby began with what appeared as a common prescription from a hospital doctor.
“The doctor was in front of us and said we should go to the children’s clinic. When we got there, the other woman was following me. Then the doctor told me, ‘Take this baby and hand over this woman.’ I refused to tell me again, ‘Give this baby to himself.’ I refused again, ” Chepkoech narrated.
He explained that the doctor insisted that he handed over the child to the woman, promising to return to the day.
Feeling pressured and confused, Chepkoech obeyed. They walked back towards the hospital gate together.
“When the gate stands the guard I stood up, the doctor asked me, ‘Do you know where to take medication?’ I said, ‘Write it.’ He wrote to me, then told me to go to the window, I took the medicine when I returned, my grandson was not there, he was robbed.

Why is Kapsabet Hospital under investigation
The family said the young mother was overwhelmed by failing to speak, her shock and sadness made her silent.
“I went to the bus stop, no one. I came back, still nobody,” Chepkoech added, his voice bursting in pain.
The disappearance has sparked outrage among relatives and human rights defenders, who now believe that the case can be linked to a broad network of child theft working inside or near the hospital.
“We have gone through the document, there were errors on the birth notification card, the letter of departure was not a date, and the clinic card is not there. Joan Bwambok, a resident of Mosop said.
Shadrack Tarno, an activist supporting the family, expressed his concern, saying all the indicators signify a systemic problem at the referral hospital.
