The country has been in a state of shock following the death of Albert Ojwang ‘, a X -raised teacher and influencer, who died in a police cell after being arrested at Homa Bay over the weekend.

The teenager was arrested for allegedly publishing false information online after Deputy Inspector General Langat filed a complaint about a post he posted on social networks.
Albert Ojwang ‘WhatsApp messages’
New WhatsApp talks have emerged showing that Ojwang ‘was online until Saturday afternoon, when he was allegedly arrested, sent from Homa Bay to Nairobi and detained at the Police Station.
The talks show that the teacher was happy, sharing a joke on the WhatsApp group starting Friday evening, June 6.
They were discussing interesting episodes and humbly met one of the group members who had started watching Prison Break in 2024.
On Saturday morning, they discussed the Kenyan comedians, in which Ojwang ‘commented that it was difficult to succeed in the humor industry especially with no continuity.
His last message was at 12:37 pm on Saturday, when he sent a funny sticker.
After that he didn’t talk anymore.
It is believed he was arrested on Saturday afternoon and later taken to Nairobi. News of his death was announced on Sunday morning.

WhatsApp conversations sparked a strong debate
An X (former Twitter) user involved the conversations said the teacher spent Friday night and Saturday morning while cheering on the conversation until he was arrested.
He wanted justice to be done, claiming that the police had not clearly defined what had happened in the cells.
“Here was his last message at 12:37 pm. @Npsofficial_ke give us the answers. He asked.
Many Kenyans came out to condemn the death and demanded that the government be responsible:
@Muthikate1: “Yes, they arrested him on Saturday and decided to take him out of life 😭. The teacher was not wrong. We want justice!”
@Ireena: “I can’t believe they have taken away Albert so cruelly.”
@mate0: “What we want is justice to be done.”
What do the police say about Ojwang’s death ‘?
A police statement issued on Sunday stated that Ojwang ‘was arrested from his home Homa Bay because of an online post.
Police allegedly died after he hit his head in the cell.
“According to the record, he was transported to Nairobi and interviewed by officials of the Criminal Investigation Department (DCI). He was later detained at Nairobi Police Station,” The June 9 statement stated.
“During a regular inspection, Ojwang ‘was found unconscious. He was taken to Mbagathi hospital and when he was informed, he was already dead.”
Police also suspended officers on duty that night.
The suspended are the commander of the Central Police Station, the Officer of the Cellular, the Cellular Protector and the rest on the job that night.
Albert Ojwang ‘surgery consequences are released
Ojwang’s body surgery ‘showed that he suffered severe suffering before his death.
The results showed the possibility of being beaten, as his neck was marked by the head and his head had severe injuries.
The surgeon said:
“These injuries cannot be said to have done it for himself, especially considering how they spread to the body – the upper part of the body and hands.”
