Kabondo Kasipul Member of Parliament (MP) Eve Akinyi Obara has issued a passionate call for justice after the tragic death of Albert Omondi Ojwang, a 31-year-old X influencer and teacher.

Ojwang died under disturbing circumstances while in police custody at the Central Police Station in Nairobi, sparking outrage.

In an official letter dated Monday, June 9, 2025, Obara called on key oversight and human rights bodies such as the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ), the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR), and other relevant investigative agencies to launch a thorough and independent investigation into the incident.

The MP said that Ojwang had died at the hands of those who were duty-bound to protect his life, adding that it was not just a tragedy but also a breach of trust and a failure of justice.

“It is with deep sorrow, profound sadness, and outrage that we mourn the tragic and highly suspicious death of Albert Omondi Ojwang, a 31-year-old teacher, online commentator, and promising young man from Kokwanyo Kakelo Ward, Kabondo Kasipul Constituency, who died under disturbing circumstances while in police custody at Central Police Station in Nairobi,” Obara wrote.

“Albert died in the hands of those who were duty-bound to protect his life. This is not just a tragedy; it is a breach of trust and a failure of justice. I therefore call upon IPOA, CAJ, KNCHR, and all relevant investigative bodies to not only conduct a thorough and independent investigation but also to ensure that those responsible are held fully accountable. The public deserves clear answers, and Albert’s family deserves justice.”

The lawmaker extended heartfelt condolences to Ojwang’s family, friends, and the wider Kabondo Kasipul community, urging them to remain strong during this painful time.

“I want to extend my deepest condolences to the family, friends, relatives and the entire community of Kabondo Kasipul. May you find strength and comfort in the memories you shared, and may His Soul rest in eternal peace,” she added.
