Why was Ojwang arrested?

Ojwang died after being arrested in a situation that still raises anger and questions among Kenyans.

The influencer was arrested in Migori and transported to Central Nairobi station on June 7 for allegedly publishing false information on the networks.

Was Ojwang scared of his life after his arrest?

The leaked voice of the telephone conversation between Ojwang and his close friend is very widespread online, expressing a state of fear and anxiety he had when he was arrested.

“I don’t understand Man, they haven’t even told me Man,” Said Ojwang in a worried voice when asked why he was arrested.

He explained that he was on his way to the Central Police Station, his voice expressing fear.

Her friend tried to calm her down by promising her that she would visit her the next morning.

However, the promise was not fulfilled as Ojwang died while in custody before meeting with the friend.

“Have you ever been in? How’s going there? I haven’t ever been this. I’ll be really safe?” He asked during the phone, expressing great fears about his safety.

His fears, which are now spread across the internet, has raised terrible questions about what happened really behind cell doors.

What did the police say about Ojwang’s death?

According to an official statement from the National Police Service (NPS), Ojwang was actually arrested and taken to the Central Nairobi station.

However, police denied allegations that he had died in their hands.

Instead, the statement claimed that Ojwang injured himself by hitting his head on a cell wall and was rushed to Mbagathi hospital where he was announced that he had died when he arrived.

The Police Observers Authority (IPOA) has already initiated an investigation into the incident.

What did Ojwang’s father say?

In the progress related to the incident, Ojwang’s father, Meshack Opiyo, expressed his pain and surprise about the cause of his only child being abandoned in cells and treated as if he was a terrorist – for sending messages to X (Twitter).

He explained that Albert was his unique son – he had no brother or sister.

He narrated how he lived and worked for more than 20 years at a quarry in Mombasa to pay for his son’s school fees.

Opiyo added that Albert had graduated from the University of the Coast, and he hoped that his son would help him in the future.

However, he now feels his years are lost in vain, and he wonders when his suffering will end.
