The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced a planned blackout in parts of the country, including Nairobi, the North Rift, and coastal regions, on Sunday, June 8, 2025.
In a statement on X on Saturday evening, June 7, 2025, KPLC stated that in Nairobi, parts of parklands including General Mathenge, 2nd & 3rd Parklands, Kusi Lane, Mpaka Rd, Ngao Rd& adjacent areas will experience a scheduled power outage between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Additionally, parts of Westlands will experience a scheduled power blackout between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, including General Mathenge Drive, General Mathenge Lane, Donyo Sabuk Lane, Donyo Sabuk Road, part of Peponi Road, part of Lower Kabete Road, Kabete Lane, and adjacent areas.

Other parts
In the North Rift region, Uasin Gishu County in particular, the planned blackout will affect Tumaini, KEMCO, Waitaluk, Kosachei, TurboMkt, Turbo School Tapsagoi, Besiobar, Labuiywet, Cheplaskei, Moro, Koimugul, Mwamba, Turbo NYS, Kapkong, Sokyot& adjacent areas between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
In the coast region, Kilifi County in particular, the affected areas include Jumbo Steel, African PVC, Rabai Mining, Rabai Slaughter, Rabai Sec, Roofing, Tarmal, Corrugated, Simba Cement & adjacent areas
