Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Director of Communications Philip Etale has claimed that the opposition team led by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has lost the plot ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Taking to his official X account on the night of Saturday, June 7, 2025, Etale stated that the opposition needs to focus on issues rather than making remarks on vote rigging.
“Hehe, if Malalah’s remarks about STEALING VOTES and how they are experts in that field are anything to go by, then the opposition has lost the plot. They need to focus on issues rather than talking of how they will STEAL THE VOTE,” Etale stated.

Malala’s remarks
Etale was responding to the remarks made by the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Deputy Party leader Cleophas Malala that the people that helped President William Ruto rig the 2022 presidential elections have now united under one umbrella ahead of the 2027 polls.
Malala made the remarks while emphasising that President Ruto will not be able to rig the 2027 general elections.
He made the remarks during a stopover in Voi, Taita Taveta County, during a tour by DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua and Kalonzo in the coastal region on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

Addressing the crowd, he stated that those who helped the head of state win the 2022 general elections have united, and no single vote will be stolen.
“I was the Secretary General in Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party; Gachagua was deputy party leader. When we tell you this person (President William Ruto) is a thief, believe us, he is. We know him in and out,” he stated.
“He is trying to threaten Kenyans that he will steal votes. We want to tell you that those people who helped you steal that election are now here (DCP). There’s not a single vote he will steal. We have united,” he added.
Gachagua and Kalonzo’s team embarked on a two-day tour of Makueni and Mombasa Counties on Friday, June 6, 2025.
The team traversed Makueni on Friday and concluded the tour in Mombasa on Saturday, June 7.
