Juja Member of Parliament (MP) George Koimburi has broken his silence on the suspected abduction ordeal that befell him on Sunday, May 25, 2025, while attending a church service in his Juja constituency.

Speaking in a video shared on Saturday, June 7, 2025, the legislator maintained he was a victim of abduction while refuting claims of the incident being self-orchestrated.

“I want to condemn the incident that happened to me and the deaths that happened from the gangs roaming in our country and terrorising Kenyans. I have personally been a victim,” he said.

While refuting the DCI’s version of his abduction being stage-managed, the MP has asserted that there are goons on the prowl and abducting Kenyans and inflicting untold suffering on people.

He has challenged the government to move swiftly and intervene.

“I want to ask the government to address this issue since there are goons out there kidnapping people,” he added.

The MP also expressed his gratitude to the people who visited him while recuperating at the hospital, where a delegation from several politicians allied to the opposition leaders Rigathi Gachagua and Kalonzo Musyoka paid him a visit.

“I want to thank the people who visited me here and all those who kept me in prayer,” he stated.

The MP’s abduction stirred a wide range of reactions across the country after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations released its preliminary report into the matter.

In a statement on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, the agency confirmed that the MP abduction was a case of stage-managed abduction.

The report came after DCI said its officers trailed the Juja Member of Parliament’s movement from the time of his disappearance on Sunday, May 25, 2025, until his resurfacing three days later in a coffee plantation in Juja.

In a related development, the police arrested three persons of interest in the case on the same day.

The three included Peter Kiraru, the Juja CDF chairman; Cyrus Muhia. and Karanja Gatana.

The MP’s abduction also caused a stir on the floor of the Kenyan parliament when the house received the reports over the incident on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

Orange Democratic Movement and National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohammed has poked holes in the suspected abduction case of the MP, terming it the biggest political scandal in Kenya and terming the whole incident as a fake.

“From the report tabled in parliament, I can only term it as the biggest political scandal in our country. When I saw the first photo, from the way my colleague was sleeping, I knew this was a fake thing. From the shirt and the way the stomach was looking up, I knew this was nothing, but I had to reserve my comment and wait for the proper investigative report to be tabled before this house,” he added.
