The government has opened a new overseas employment pathway for healthcare professionals, announcing a fresh batch of job opportunities in Jersey Island for qualified pharmacy practitioners.

The move is part of a broader strategy to strengthen labour migration frameworks and provide structured international placements for Kenyan workers.

In a statement posted on social media platform X on Saturday, June 7, 2025, the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, housed under the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, called on diploma and degree holders in pharmacy to apply for roles ranging from clinical to managerial positions.

“Work Opportunities in Jersey Island,” the post read.

“Qualified pharmacy professionals with diplomas or degrees are welcome to submit applications for positions available in Jersey Island,” it added.

The available positions include Lead Pharmacist, Pharmacy Manager, Clinical Pharmacist, Lead Pharmacy Technician, and Senior Pharmacy Technician.

Applications must be submitted via an online form by June 18, 2025.

No recruitment fees

To avoid exploitation, the department emphasised that the Diaspora Placement Agency (DPA) is the sole authorised recruiter for these opportunities and that no recruitment fees are to be charged.

“Applicants should beware of imposters. All applications are processed through official government channels,” the department warned.

This recruitment drive follows a recent memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the government of Kenya and a staffing agency based in Jersey Island.

The agreement aims to expand structured employment channels and reduce the vulnerabilities that Kenyan migrant workers often face in informal or exploitative arrangements abroad.

The MoU is part of Kenya’s evolving strategy under President William Ruto’s administration to tap into global labour markets as a way to alleviate domestic unemployment and boost diaspora remittances, which have become a vital component of the country’s economy.

According to the latest figures from Kenya’s Central Bank, diaspora remittances hit a record $4.3 billion in 2024, making labour migration not just a social policy but a cornerstone of national development.

Eligibility requirements

Prospective applicants are required to submit:

1. An updated Curriculum Vitae

2. A copy of the passport biodata page or Kenyan national ID

3. Academic and professional certificates

Inquiries can be directed to the State Department’s official email, [email protected], or in person at the Diaspora Placement Agency’s offices located on the first floor of Old Mutual Tower, Upper Hill Road, Nairobi.
