Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) has launched a contest that will see Kenyan youth battle it out for a Ksh100,000 reward.
Taking to their official X account on the night of Saturday, June 7, 2025, the DCP party invited the youth who have graphic design skills to come out and try their luck.
The party wants the contestants to design the face of its youth league. According to the party, the design should be fresh and bold and amplify the political outfit’s journey.
The design will be used on the party’s merchandise that will be launched at a later date.
“WASEE WA DESIGN! KUJENI HAPA! Design yako, Dira yetu! Uko ready kuchora sura ya Party Youth League? Hii ndio chance yako kubonga na rangi! Tunatafta design kali – ile fresh, bold na inaambia story – ya official merch yetu: T-shirts, berets na zingine mob. Get a KSHS. 100K AWARD!” the DCP party stated.
Determining winner
The designs will be shared via the party’s official social media channels, and the one that will garner the most votes will win the Ksh100,000 cash prize.
Gachagua’s party has set a June 12, 2025, deadline for the interested candidates to submit their designs, with only those aged between 18 and 35 years being eligible to contest.
“Design ya mbogi, ile itapigiwa kura na wasee kwa public, ndio itapata Kshs. 100,000 bob cash! Deadline: 12th June 2025. Tuma design yako: [email protected] Only for Kenyan youth 18-35,” the party stated.
Those interested in contesting have been reminded to maintain the party’s slogan in their designs.
“Kumbuka, Tagline yetu Mayut ni “Ssshhhh… Skiza WaKenya!” Make sure iko kwa Merch!” the statement read.

DCP failed launch
This comes just days after the DCP party failed to stage its official launch that was scheduled for Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at the Kasarani Sports Centre.
In a statement after a meeting of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, DCP Secretary General Hezron Obaga said the launch, initially scheduled for June 4, 2025, was postponed after the management of Kasarani Sports Centre cancelled the booking of the venue.
“Today, the DCP Party, led by the party leader H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, held its inaugural National Executive Council meeting at the party headquarters since the unveiling of the party on 17th May, 2025. The party launch that was scheduled for the 4th June, 2025 and later moved to the 3rd June, 2025 wouldn’t take place because the management of the Kasarani Sports Centre at the behest of the Ruto Administration cancelled our venue booking with no possibility of a future date,” Obaga stated.
