More than a year since his body was discovered abandoned on the edge of the Tharaka Nithi River, the late blogger Daniel Bernard “Sniper” Muthiani has not yet been buried.

His father, 104 -year -old Bernard Laibon, has the emotional weight of an unresolved disaster, which has refused to allow his soul to rest.
Sniper, known for his intense political views and online activism, disappeared on December 2, 2023.
Four days later, his dead body was found thrown along the edges of the Kathita River in a neighboring county.
The horrible discovery sparked national complaints, with its supporters and local leaders blaming a dirty political game.
Why is dad sniper not at peace
But beyond the public cry, it is the personal sadness of a father who has been waiting for free to bury his son.
The original promise was clear: there is no burial until justice is achieved. But as the case progressed, depression intensified, and burial plans were stuck.
The date was set, December 13, 2024, one full year after the death of the sniper, for his final sending.
However even when the closure was gone, with land disputes, thus hampering plans to sleep.
Speaking to TV47 in rare and heartbreaking interviews, Sniper’s father urged his son to be buried finally before the end of June.
“My life here is filled with pain. Even my soul is not peaceful. The old man said with great pain in his voice.
Why is a sniper called President
The sniper’s body is left at the burial of the flower Methodist Hospital (MMH), where it has gained incredible status.
With a calming voice and out of closed doors, he is now known as ‘President’, not by his past influence in Meru politics, but because of the long period of time he stayed without burial.
“We call the president of the mortuary because he is sitting more here. The day he leaves here we will feel good and we call on anyone to speed up the removal of the drummer and rest him to his last place,” The hospital’s CEO John Mungania said.

Hellen Achieng, a mortuary in MMH, revealed that she is their long -term client, since most bodies do not last 14 days.
“So far, his body is the longest, he has been here for about a year and six months, which is why we gave him that nickname. Usually, the bodies stay here for a week or two,” noted.
Mungania promised that when the day came, the sniper would be treated with respect.
When will the Sniper be buried
In May, Meru Governor Isaac Mutuma reiterated hope, suggesting that there are new efforts to resolve the land dispute and allow families to bury their son.
Mutuma said they wanted to see justice and the nuclear family of the blogger supported, promising to help the children get education.
He also revealed that Deputy President Kithure Kindiki He had already built a house for the family.
