On Wednesday, June 4, the deputy president organized a meeting with Embu governor Cecily Mbarire and the leader of the majority of the county parliament Peter Muriithi.
According to the Deputy President’s statement, their talks were about measures to protect important valuable chains in the agricultural sector such as tea, coffee, macadamia, and M′gũka.
“This morning I met with Embu governor Cecily Mbarire and the leader of the majority of the county parliament Peter Muriithi to discuss the implementation of the central government projects in the region,” Said Kindiki via his Facebook page.
The meeting was held just one day after another unlike Embu MPs organized on Tuesday, June 3.
The present included Senator Alexander Mundigi, Women’s Representative Njoki Njeru, MPs Eric Muchangi (Runyenjes), Nebart Muriuki (South Mbeere), and Minister Geoffrey Ruku, who previously represented the North Mbeere in Parliament.
This two -day conference has been seen by many as the efforts of Kikiki to restore political solidarity within the county and to ensure that leaders are in line with the national development agenda.
Did the governor of Embu complain about political intervention?
Speaking during the Power Day celebrations, Governor Mbarire accused some of the top government officials in Nairobi for plotting to undermine his leadership.
He claimed that the unnamed people had been meeting at night in secret in the county for the purpose of dividing local leaders and undermining its authority.
Not to mention them directly, Mbarire expressed his dissatisfaction with what he called betrayal from people on his political side.
Mbarire is also the National Chairman of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), which is the ruling party led by the President William Ruto.
He noted that despite his loyalty to the party, especially during the difficult 2022 election campaign, some senior party leaders seem to be interested in reducing its political influence.

Are there any lower conflicts to the bottom within the UDA?
Mbarire’s strong statements came after earlier accusations from Kindiki, who appeared to question his leadership ability.
In a preliminary public speech, Kindiki criticized Mbarire for failing, for his allegations, to prevent President Ruto from being exposed to residents during his previous visit to Embu.
The deputy president suggested that his failure to control the incident could indicate that he should not continue serving as chairman of the UDA.
The remarks sparked a new rumor about Mbarire’s future within the party, especially after UDA made major leadership changes, including the removal of former deputy leader Rigathi Gachagua and the complex Union and the Peace National Congress (ANC) Musalia Mudavadi.
