Charlene, daughter of President William Rutohe publicly addressed the arrest of Webster Ochora Elijah, a graduate of Kisii University allegedly writing and publishing a book about him without permission.

The defendant was arrested under the law on computer abuse and Internet crime, while detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) linked O Chechora with charges of identity theft and pretending.

The book mentioned, Beyond The Name: Charlene Ruto and the Youth Uprising, is alleged to have used Charlene’s identity without her consent, resulting in a formal complaint and subsequent investigation.

What did Charlene Ruto say about the book?

Speaking during a tree planting ceremony at Wareng High School in the city EldoretUasin Gishu County, Charlene defended the arrest of Ochora, explaining that the act involved a violation of his rights.

“We have corrected cultures in our country where we misuse people’s names and refrain from them, and that is not right,” he said. “That’s not something I manage. So I presented my statement to DCIand we went through legal procedures. “

He explained that although he understands that young people are looking for opportunities, this should not be done at the expense of the consent of others or identity.

“Sir never came to me with a suggestion that he wanted to write a book on my behalf, and to me, that was the misuse of my name. The day I was ready to write my book, I would write it, otherwise, no one should write to you your own story,” he added.

Charlene emphasized that the issue was not about the content of the book but about the principle of consent.

He compared the situation with the same event he was attending, explaining how his team had officially arrived at the Chandaria Foundation before associating their name with the Tree Nursery Project.

“Similarly we came to the Chandarian dedication and asked, ‘Would you make a tree nursery in Wareng in honor of our president?’ – And they said yes. He said.

He wanted the Kenyan youth to avoid shortcuts and instead follow the right path to achieve their goals.

Was Webster Ochora released?

Ochora was brought to the Mountains Court on Tuesday, June 3.

Working under the commercial name of Gift Publishers, Ochora was charged with pretending Charlene.

He denied the charges and released of a KSh 100,000 bond or a bail of KSh 50,000 in cash. The case will be reconsidered on June 17, with DCI officials continuing the investigation of its digital equipment trapped.
