One-man guitarist and Kikuyu Mugithi icon Waithaka Wa Jane has brought a wave of relief to his followers after he shared a warm good morning message, just hours after sparking widespread tension with a chilling post claiming that someone was planning to abduct and possibly kill him on the night of Monday, June 2, 2025.

In his post on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, where he also shared a dapper photo of himself seated casually at the boot of his car, Waithaka greeted his fans with warmth and ease, instantly quelling the rising tension that had gripped many since his earlier distressing message.

“Good morning,” he posted.

Waithaka on abduction

In his previous post, Waithaka had revealed unsettling details that someone who had been trailing him had confirmed plans to seize him during his live performance at a popular club based in Membley, Ruiru, that very evening.

He further disclosed that beyond the abduction threat, the unnamed individual had sinister intentions to either harm him or silence him permanently by ending his life.

“Someone is planning to abduct me tonight while I am performing at OJ Bypass Membley. Their goal is either to silence me or take my life,” Waithaka posted, leaving fans deeply concerned and sending him prayers and words of protection.

Netizens’ reactions

Following his revelation, the post quickly drew over three thousand comments, as concerned fans flooded the section with support while others warned those behind the threats that karma would find them.

While some speculated on who the individuals behind the threats could be, others shifted their concern to his lover, renowned Kameme FM presenter Muthoni wa Kirumba, wondering whether she too was safe or also in potential danger.

Here are some of the comments:

@Thus Marcus said: “Obviously, it is Wamafocho who is behind this whole orchestration.”

@Waweru PS said: “If they dare, it is going to be messy.”

@Amos Biketi said: “As long as they allow you in there with your guitar, they will still dance to Mugithi even with bad intentions in their hearts.”

@Stevoh Mairuch said: “Wooi baby, where is Top? She should give her man security, or is she also in danger?”

@Tirrah Terriz said: “Let them try – they will find out you are not just a Mugithi singer, but a whole movement.”

Muthoni wa Kirumba’s beef

The unfolding development came barely a day after Waithaka’s lover, Muthoni wa Kirumba, found herself in an explosive online spat with Murang’a Woman Representative Betty Maina, a beef that was ignited after a fan called out Betty for promoting a maize flour brand that bore a striking resemblance to Muthoni’s.

That remark prompted Betty to come out all guns blazing, unleashing a fierce online tirade in which she not only dismissed Muthoni’s brand but also dragged Muthoni’s mother into the war of words.

“From a Bishop? How are you people even doing? Ask Wa***** what makes the Kabagara she gives different from what you are giving your constituents. Or does hers bake unleavened bread? People are watching – they know she is jealous and picks fights with everyone, even her own mother,” Betty posted, stirring a fresh round of outrage online.

Muthoni swiftly fired back, warning Betty to keep her mother out of the feud, and declaring she was fully ready to respond to anything Betty threw her way.

“Keep off my mother – if you have an issue, deal with me,” Muthoni snapped.

Muthoni also shared a screenshot from back in 2020, showing a post where Betty had publicly thanked her for offering help during a personal crisis, accusing the politician of extreme hypocrisy and reminding her how quickly she had forgotten that support.

She also acknowledged the concern from some of her fans who urged her to disengage from the conflict for the sake of her public image, but maintained that she was not going to let disrespect slide – brand or no brand.

“Fair enough! Let me go to Mass and repent – but I am coming for you right here at 9:00. You do not get to cross the red line, not even with the parents of your worst enemy… For those saying, ‘Oh, your brand this and that’ – I do not have one when it comes to that red line!” she wrote.

Waithaka joins the conversation

Waithaka later stepped in to support his lover in addressing the outspoken politician, strongly condemning Betty for involving parents in what he termed an unnecessary and immature online fight.

He expressed that he was not bothered by personal insults thrown his way, even if they labelled him a “domesticated musician,” but drew the line at dragging in parents who had no part in such digital chaos.

“Let us respect our parents, you can call me anything you like, even a domesticated musician, I do not mind. But let us draw the line and respect our parents. See you all at Embassy tonight,” he posted.
