Software developer Rose Njeri has been presented at the Milimani Law Courts hours after being transferred from Pangani Police Station to an undisclosed location.

According to a charge sheet seen by The Standard, Njeri faces two counts under the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act.

The charges stem from a program she developed to enable the public to send mass emails to the National Assembly’s Finance Committee and the Clerk.

The prosecution claims the emails interfered with normal operations.

Njeri is being represented by a battery of lawyers, including former Chief Justice David Maraga, Wiper and DAP-K leaders Kalonzo Musyoka and Eugene Wamalwa, and others.

Her lawyers have opposed the taking of her plea.

She has been in custody since her arrest on Friday, May 30, at her home in Nairobi’s South C estate.
