In an unexpected moment of admiration and connection, Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya was left deeply touched after coming across a vehicle branded with his photo at Jacaranda Grounds in Embakasi East Sub-County.

Taking to his official Instagram account on the night of Monday, June 2, 2025, Salasya shared his surprise and heartfelt gratitude.

The Democratic Action Party (DAP-K) first-term lawmaker stated that he had no prior knowledge of the car or its owner — someone who had evidently gone out of their way to publicly express support for him.

The car features the image of Salasya and appears to be a bold show of admiration for his leadership and personality after it was captioned as Wanga’s finest, accompanied by a message in the Luhya language, “Shienyu ni Shienyu“, which translates to ‘Your own will always remain your own.

Salasya thanks fans

He went ahead to thank all those that have gone as far as branding their own property in his images, noting that it was such a big honour.

“I saw this vehicle in Embakasi Jakaranda grounds, and I was so surprised with the owner. I have never met him before, but he just believed in me,” Salasya stated.

“To all those people who have written or branded their personal properties and materials, I say thanks. I take this as a big honour,” Salasya added.

This is not the first time Salasya has captured public attention with his raw, relatable reactions. The lawmaker was at the famous Jacaranda grounds in Embakasi on Sunday, June 1, 2025, where he joined Bunge la Mwananchi to sell his 2027 presidential bid.

Known for his outspoken nature and grassroots connection, he continues to gain a loyal following among ordinary Kenyans.

Salasya’s source of funds

Salasya has been traversing the country in a bid to popularise his 2027 presidential ambitions, a move that has drawn mixed reactions, with many questioning the source of his funds.

However, the lawmaker has since explained the source of funds for his countrywide tours.

Taking to his official Instagram account on the night of Saturday, May 31, 2025, Salasya denied being funded by anyone and sought to clear the air on the source of the money he has been using to fund his political engagements across the country.

According to the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) first-term lawmaker, he has been utilising the money he earns from his role as an MP.

Salasya argues that he currently has no children to take to international schools, nor his own family to take on an expensive vacation since he is not yet married, making it easy for him to utilise his salary.

He further clarified that the money he earns does not have big responsibilities.

“For those asking where I get money to traverse Kenya like a village. I have no children I am taking to international schools or taking my family on an expensive vacation because I am not married haha … Sasa pesa yangu haina responsibilities mob,” Salasya stated.
