Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Kaluma has lauded President William Ruto for developing all the regions in the country equally.
In a statement on X on Monday, July 2, 2025, Kaluma thanked Ruto for hosting the Madaraka Day celebrations in the devolved unit while criticising the previous governments for not sharing resources fairly.
“Thank you, President Ruto, for choosing Homa Bay to host Madaraka Day, 2025. This has exposed the beauty of Homa Bay and her people to the world and the great potential for national growth and development lying here, while at the same time revealing the failure of past administrations to equally develop all regions and parts of Kenya,” he stated.
This comes a day after Homa Bay County hosted the 62nd Mdaraka Day celebrations at the Raila Odinga Stadium, which drew thousands of Kenyans on Saturday, May 31, 2025.

President William Ruto led the ceremony on July 1, 2025, which was graced by other leaders, including ODM Party leader Raila Odinga, with Slovenia’s President Nataša Pirc Musar as the chief guest.
According to government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura, the county was chosen because of its strategic location on the shores of Lake Victoria, making it the ideal venue to highlight the theme ‘Harnessing Kenya’s Blue Economy for Sustainable Growth.
Kithure Kindiki
Kaluma’s remarks come weeks after Deputy President Kithure Kindiki affirmed that the Kenya Kwanza administration will ensure fairness in the distribution of national resources across all parts of the country.
Speaking on April 13, 2025, in Kilgoris, Narok County, Kindiki said the Ruto-led administration is keen on instituting equity and equality in service provision.
He said no part of Kenya will be discriminated against because of how they voted, and this includes equal access to resources, opportunities and government services.

“The Ruto administration is instituting fairness, equity and equality in the distribution of national resources to make sure every community, every county and every place is treated equally and has equal opportunity to get access to government opportunities and resources.
“The government is ensuring that as we share national resources across all the 47 counties, the 290 constituencies, and 1,450 wards, all Kenyans deserve equal treatment, for we all belong here,” Kindiki said.
Kindiki explained that despite political competition during elections, whoever is elected serves all, regardless of their political affiliations.
Furthermore, he noted that no one or part of Kenya chose to belong here, stating that it is God’s plan that we all exist as one country.
The DP appreciated Ruto for reaching out to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who is now working with the government.
