Mumias East Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has explained the source of funds for his countrywide tours to popularise his 2027 presidential bid.
Taking to his official Instagram account on the night of Saturday, May 31, 2025, Salasya denied being funded by anyone.
However, he sought to clear the air on the source of the money he has been using to fund his political engagements across the country.
According to the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) first-term lawmaker, he has been utilising the money he earns from his role as an MP.
No family
Salasya argues that he currently has no children to take to international schools, nor his own family to take on an expensive vacation since he is not yet married, making it easy for him to utilise his salary.
He further clarified that the money he earns does not have big responsibilities.
“For those asking where I get money to traverse Kenya like a village. I have no children I am taking to international schools or taking my family to an expensive vacation because am not married haha …sasa pesa yangu haina responsibilities mob,” Salasya stated.

Salasya denies being project
Early this month, Salasya denied being a project of the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party over his 2027 presidential bid.
Taking to his official Instagram account on Saturday, May 10, 2025, Salasya fought off the UDA project tag, claiming that he is not being funded by the state to conduct his countrywide familiarisation tours.
A section of Kenyans online had questioned Salsaya’s tours, bearing in mind the fact that the MP has been publicly sharing his payslip, whose net pay cannot fund the trips.
However, Salasya argued that the claims that he is being funded are just cheap and lazy propaganda manufactured by those that are terrified of the political wave he says he is building across the nation.
”Let me be crystal clear, for the avoidance of doubt: I am NOT a UDA project. I am NOT funded by the State House. I have NEVER received a single cent—let alone Ksh 40 million—from Katoo Ole Metito or any government official. Full stop,” Salasya wrote on Instagram.
”These claims are nothing but cheap, lazy propaganda manufactured by cowards who are terrified of the political wave I am building across the nation. They can’t match the momentum, they can’t match the courage, and they can’t match the connection I have with the people—so they resort to lies.”
