How many people died in an accident on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway?
The tragic accident involving many consequences resulted in the death of one person and leaving another person with serious injuries.
Emergency ministers arrived at the scene to provide medical assistance and control the situation.
In a statement issued on Friday, May 30, the National Police Service informed the public about the overcrowding between Emali and Masimba on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.
NPS spokesman Muchiri Nyaga said the congestion was due to a fatal accident involving three trailers that collided on the railway bridge near Jet Inn, and completely blocked the road.
“NPS is partnering with relevant agencies to restore normal traffic flow. Additional police officers have been sent to the area and will take strong action against anyone who violates traffic rules,” Muchiri said.
Muchiri called on drivers to be patient with high traffic congestion and emphasized the importance of maintaining the right discipline to ensure the transmission of vehicles and prevent further accidents.
He also urged drivers to focus on alternative alternatives to help reduce congestion on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway and improve general road safety for all travelers.
“The traffic congestion to Mombasa should consider using the Machakos-All-Makindu route, while travelers heading to Nairobi can use the Makindu-All-Machakos route. Muchiri added.

Francis Ndirangu, coordinator of the Kirimari County Rescue Squad, said despite the seriousness of the accident, not one passenger on the Tahmeed bus suffered injuries. It is said that the bus was able to stand safely after the collision.
The authorities initiated an investigation into the incident, based on a mechanical error that resulted in the initial regulatory loss. Traffic was temporarily interrupted on the highway during the rescue operation, but was restored later.
The tragic accident raised concerns about car repairs and road safety implementation at this busy corridor, which links Embu to the capital, Nairobi.
