Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malalah has announced a second rally in Kakamega for the party, just days after the police thwarted a similar event.
Taking to his official social media accounts on the night of Thursday, May 29, 2025, Malalah termed the rally as the second coming of the DCP party into the Western region.
According to the event poster that he shared, the rally will happen on Saturday, May 31, 2025, with a section of the party’s officials and leaders set to accompany Malalah to the event.
“It’s about to go down. The 2nd Coming of the DCP Party into Western. Kakamega, get ready to host,” Malalah captioned the poster shared on X.

Malalah’s anticipatory bail
Malalah’s announcement of the event comes a day after the High Court granted him anticipatory bail, blocking his arrest following chaos witnessed in Kakamega last weekend.
Justice Diana Kavedza of the High Court in Kibera issued the anticipatory bail on Wednesday, May 28, after Malalah filed an application saying he had received credible information that DCI detectives are planning to apprehend him.
According to the court documents shared by the DCP party, the High Court Judge said the DCI and DPP officers can investigate and charge Malala; however, they can’t arrest or detain him.
“The applicant herein is admitted to anticipatory bail in the sum of Kenya Shillings One Hundred Thousand (Kshs. 100,000) to be deposited in court,” Kavedza directed.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the respondents are at liberty to investigate or charge the applicant for any criminal conduct. However, they shall not arrest or detain the applicant in view of order (II) above or until further orders of the court.”
She directed Malala’s lawyer to escort the former UDA Secretary General to the DCI offices for interrogation within five days and not later than June 3.
“The applicant’s advocates are further directed to escort the applicant to the offices of the 2nd respondent for questioning and/or interrogation within five (5) days from the date hereof and not later than 3rd June, 2025,” the judge said.
First Kakamega rally
Teargas and running battles between police and supporters of the DCP party ensued on May 24, 2025, in Kakamega as officials led by Malalah began the western region tour.
The DCP deputy party leader was accompanied by Senators Methu Muhia of Nyandarua and Karungo Thang’wa of Kiambu, among other leaders and party officials.

In a statement after the incident, they condemned it, saying that no amount of intimidation or coercion will break their resolve to liberate the country.
Malalah further alleged use of live bullets by the police, insisting that the gathering was a peaceful one.
“I strongly condemn the use of brute force, live bullets and unnecessary teargas by our security agencies to disperse a peaceful procession merely welcoming home their leader,” he said.
