During the 2025 national petition held on Wednesday, May 28, the President took a compromise by apologizing to the President TanzaniaSamia Solution, encouraging the restoration of solidarity and cooperation between the two nations.

The evacuation incident of some activists threatened to destroy the historical relationship between Kenya and Tanzania.

What was Ruto’s message to Tanzania?

Ruto’s speech focused on forgiveness, national solidarity, and future hopes.

He began with a call to appreciate what was achieved rather than blaming, saying true progress requires gratitude and understanding of all parties.

Most of all, the president did not avoid acknowledging the diplomatic tension that existed.

Ruto expanded his message beyond Tanzania, including Kenyan neighbors as Ugandaand even address Kenyans about internal mistakes.

“Our neighbors from Tanzania, if we have offended you in any way, forgive us.

To our neighbors, if we are wrong anywhere, you know, we want to build a relationship that will raise our nation and move us forward, ” Ruto said.

What message did Kenyans have for Tanzanian parliamentarians?

With the aim of strengthening regional solidarity, Kenyan MPs invited their Tanzanian counterparts to participate in national applications.

This came a few days after Tanzanian parliamentarians criticized Kenya in parliament, following the arrest and evacuation of attorney general Martha Karua, activist Boniface Mwangi, and Muganda Agather Atuhaire.

During the ceremony, South Mugirango MP, Silvanus Osoro, led the Swahili song on stage, inviting Tanzanian MPs to join them.

He explained that they practiced the song together on the night of the event, which showed solidarity between members of both sides.

Osoro acknowledged the presence of a major delegation from Tanzania and Uganda, congratulating the Tanzanian parliamentarians for participating in joint exercises.

“We have Luck Be with MPs as well as a major message from Tanzania and Uganda. However, I focus on Tanzania because Mr. President, we practiced this song with them starting at 4pm. So, with great honor, I would like to invite our brothers from Tanzania to come to the stage to join us to sing this Swahili song. Yes they are coming, applause to them, ” Osoro said.
