At this time, highlighted in genuine reflection, it comes as Uganda is approaching the 2026 general election with increasing political pressure and demanding change.

The apology of the powerful couple was given in a session organized carefully at a religious event led by their daughter, Pastor Patience Rwabwogo.

Standing side -by -side, the Museveni read the prepared petition that acknowledged the shortcomings of their government and the burden that gave the civilians.

Their voice was deliberate and humble, signifying a move from a contemptuous posture that is often associated with a strong person.

“We agree that we are human, we have missed you and have made mistakes one way or another. Forgive us, O Lord,” They read while addressing the nation.

Their statement not only touched on personal failures but spread to broader government machines.

The president and wife of the president agreed to be responsible for actions and not to take action against government agents under their leadership, noting that many Ugandans have felt neglected, angry, and forgotten.

“As the main leaders of the lukewarm, we have the responsibility of all the mistakes made by ourselves, our agents and representatives,” Musevenis said.

What is Museveni’s request and his wife?

The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), which has been praised for stabilizing after many years of chaos, is now facing a huge gap of trust.

Increasing corruption, allegations of human rights violations, and the abandonment of the countryside have led to greater criticism.

The couple’s language, evaluated and confessing, stood in the opposite direction of the confidence that defined much of Museveni’s presidency.
