The decision was based on student violence triggered by the surprise death of one of them.

“The girls were very aggressive. They were destroying the property when we arrived after receiving the strike reports on Monday night,” Said Bett.

The police commander said when they responded to reports of the strike, they were able to calm the situation.

Education officials visited the school later and found that the situation was calm. However, the management board decided to let the students go home.

The commander explained that the deceased student, Deborah Nchagwa Moherai, lost consciousness on Sunday, May 25, while at school at 5am.

He was rushed to Lifecare Hospital, Migori, where he died.
