In a statement issued on Sunday, May 18, Chadema strongly criticized President Samia Suluhu’s government for arresting and humiliating the foreigners, especially Martha Karua, the leader of the People’s Liberation Party.
Chadema said it was a disgrace to the resolution regime to deprive Karua’s permission to enter the country, despite the fact that he had come to witness the case of their leader, Tundu Antiphas Lissu, facing charges of incitement and political treason.
The party called on the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Tanzanian Department of Immigration to provide a clear and immediate information on the legal basis to arrest and prevent them from entering the foreigners.
Also, Chadema demanded that the government’s solution should apologize to Karua and two of his fellow Kenyan lawyers for the abuse they received.
