1. The Standard

The Standard newspaper reported on opposition to Rigathi Gachagua’s presidential goal from some opposition leaders.

The Jubilee Party Secretary -General, Jeremiah Kioni, is among the opposition to the former deputy president.

According to Kioni, Gachagua has a great deal of follow -up in Mount Kenya and has no national influence.

“The presidential presidency will only attract votes in the Mount Kenya region and not in any other community because of various issues including ethnic visualization, statements of the division of authority, and how he was known as the regional leader,” The Standard quoted him.

“That’s why I tell Gachagua to stop completely talking about the presidency. If he does, he will make it easier for Ruto to return to the palace. he added.

The Jubilee party, led by former president Uhuru Kenyatta, has approved former Internal Security Minister Fred Matiang’i.

2. Nation today

The national newspaper today set aside one page to report the violence witnessed in the Mathira parliament on Tuesday, May 20.

Local MP Eric Wamumbi was forced to flee from an angry crowd in Karatina, with two of his aides seriously injured by Gachagua supporters.

Business activities stopped after Gachagua’s supporters launched violence when Wamumbi tried to address some residents, which made him escape.

Angry residents directed anger at his two injured assistants in the riots.

They were admitted to Karatina Level Four Hospital.

It is alleged that one of them was fiercely confronted by a woman who supports Gachagua in the Karatina market.

The man was forced to hide at the Karatina police station with armed residents seeking to kill him.

Mount Kenya MPs who voted to oust Gaita from office last year have been plagued by fierce opposition from their voters accusing them of undermining the former deputy president.

Gachagua called on Mount Kenya voters not to re -elect parliamentarians who supported his removal.

Residents closed the Karatina Road to Nairobi as police tried to disperse them.

The riot police were patrolling the city until evening when they went to the industry.

Mathira East Police Commander, Samson Leweri, said the incident was being investigated to determine the source of the violence.
