Part of opposition leaders led by the ODM leader, Raila Odingawho previously supported President William Ruto, are now starting to reconsider their position.
Lugari MP, Prophet Nabwera, has pointed to a return to fierce opposition to the President, stating that the use of government security agencies against critics is a serious offense that could bring Ruto back to the problems he had previously faced.
Nabwera made this statement following the incident of officials of the Ethics and Anti -Corruption Commission (EACC) invading the home of Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, Ruto’s chief critic, for allegedly violating the county procurement process.
A day before the incident, officials of the National Intelligence Department (NIS) and the Criminal Investigation Department (DCI) were reportedly invading the residence of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in search of weapons.
Nabwera said that such actions show a lack of patience and could lead to public anger as witnessed in 2024, in which Kenyan youths led The procession Great against the government.
He added that the President should listen to the voices of the people through their representatives at the grassroots level, such as ten house leaders and religious leaders, to understand the realities of the country.

Governor Anyang ‘Nyong’o warns about new youth rebellion
Governor of KisumuAnyang ‘Nyong’o, who is also the Acting ODM leader, has warned that a new youth -led revolt could emerge if the government does not address their complaints.
Speaking at the funeral of Professor Bethwell Allan Ogot, Nyong’o said that ODM would no longer be ready to save the Ruto government from a political crisis.
Nyong’o explained that the government is facing various accusations, including corruption, lack of effectiveness in the administration, failure to fulfill promises, and allegations of kidnapping and arbitrary killings by government officials.
He added that the Ruto government has begun to repeat the Moi era style, which was totalitarian and hindered the development of division.
At present, there are signs of ongoing tensions between the Ruto government and some of the opposition leaders who had previously supported him.
The use of security forces against critics and failure to address public complaints can lead to new youth rebellion, as it happened in 2024.
President Ruto is encouraged to listen to the voices of the people and to ensure that his government focuses on the principles of good governance and democracy.
