He said that he was raised by a stepmother who had no good relationship. As a result, he escaped home and went to find a job as a domestic worker in Ruai, Nairobi.
In Ruai, he met a man who had been pregnant but refused to be responsible. Hellen said the man tortured him, and at one time he was forced to sleep on the street after leaving work and nowhere to go.

How Hellen went to Saudi Arabia
After the death of her husband, Hellen met a friend who identified her with agents helping Kenyans find homework abroad, especially Saudi Arabia and Lebanon.
She attended the training and eventually traveled to Saudi Arabia, leaving her first child to Mother Docil and the second to the baby’s grandmother.
He said life in Saudi Arabia was good, and he had a generous employer. However, he later began to get sick and asked to return home.
“I visited several hospitals, but my condition did not improve. I had problems with my leg and I felt like my mind was weakening.”

After recovering, Hellen applied for another job – this tribute in Lebanon – and fortunately he quickly found it.
“It didn’t take long. I applied in April and traveled in May 2023. I worked for a while until I failed to continue.”
He explained that Lebanon’s work environment was bad, his employers abused him and failed to give him medical assistance. He continued to get sick, and whenever he was taken to hospital, he was asked to pay, despite the low wages.
All this time, Hellen was sending money to Mama Docil who was raising her daughter.
“I used about Ksh 200,000 when I was in Lebanon.
After the bombing of Lebanon in 2024, Hellen decided to return to Kenya, paying for all travel costs.
“Every time I called Mama Docil to tell her how hard life was and how I wanted to come back, she advised me to tolerate and continue to work. I didn’t know she was hidden.”
Hellen returns to Kenya
Hellen finally returned to Kenya, but when she phoned Mama Docil she did not receive a phone call.
“On Sunday morning I went to Ruai to find him. He was not there.
A few days later, Hellen confronted Mama Docil, who admitted to using KSh 100,000 for her personal problems. In anger, Hellen wanted her to go to the bank to take the remaining amount.
However, a bank official told him that the account was not money. Each time Docil made money, she gave it shortly afterwards.
“He took my money after all I went through. That was a brutal thing. I had nothing. I went back from Lebanon with nothing to show. I just left the bank and left him there.”
Most sadly, Mama Docil turned Hellen’s daughter against her. When he tried to take her baby, the girl refused, and Mama Docil insisted she would not release her.
