Is Gachagua losing his focus on Mount Kenya?

Among the rebels include former Nyeri MP in Ngunjiri Wambugu, who announced the withdrawal from a television interview, citing Gachagua’s leadership style and its removal in October 2024 as the main reason.
Wambugu criticized Gachagua’s motivation for the regional party, and referred to it as a dictator, and said he now favors political freedom.
Several other MPs, including Mary Wauua (Maragua), Peter Kihungi (Kangema), and Njoki Njeru (Embu Women’s Representative), have also returned to Ruto, while others skipping a recent meeting to oppose Ruto in Gachaea’s residence.
Even close allies such as Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi and his wife Betty Maina turned to him and voted for him not to be dismissed.
