Owino said his relationship with Ong’ongo was more widespread in politics – they were all friends and family. He explained that the MP’s first wife was his cousin.
“She married my cousin, the first wife, who passed away. He later married my ex -boss’s daughter – a police officer – a very nice girl,” Owino said during a Citizen TV interview.
He added that he had known Ongo since his time in Meru County and was aware of an incident involving a woman from Homa Bay who allegedly disappeared from Ong’ongo Meru’s residence.
Owino expressed his sadness over how the MP died, saying that he had never thought of political competition – especially within the community – could take that sad stream.
“Anyone found guilty of killing the late Kasipul MP should face the power of the law,” he stressed. “If a person is involved, regardless of his position, killing a person is unacceptable,” he added.
He also criticized efforts to involve innocent people and murder without evidence, warning that pulling names in the mud without confirmation only results in unfair consequences such as loss of jobs and damage to praise.
