According to a daily Swahili newspaper, the family of Sheila Nyamokami Mokaya, a 32 -year -old teacher killed along with her five -year -old daughter in Lamu County, said it had warned her to be careful about her relationship with a general service unit (GSU) who later shot and killed them before suicide.
A relative revealed that Sheila was interested in officially introducing the officer, Moses Makira Ayoga, to the family as his fiancé in December.
However, her mother, Teresia Gethemba Moses, explained that the officer was not Sheila’s husband, but a boyfriend, and the family was not known.

He had previously been married in Keumu, Kisii County, but the marriage was interrupted shortly after the birth of his second child.

3. The Star
According to the newspaper, President William Ruto’s major vision for Kenya is in danger with the national debt overrun his plans.
Budget disclosure indicates that Kenya will spend KSh1.901 trillion to pay off debt in the next financial year, which is approximately 57% of KSh3.31 trillion estimates in revenue.
This means that for every KSh100 the Kenya Tax Authority collects, KSh57 will be used to repay the debt.
With only KSh43 remaining to cover important costs, county governments, and daily activities, debt repayment has dominated the national budget, thus reducing the money for reform projects that Ruto ran the campaign.
Of all debt payments, Ksh1.1 trillion is for interest, enough to pay the annual salaries of all public servants.
KSh803 billion will be spent on capital repayment, divided between foreign and domestic claimants.
This huge debt burden forces the government to enter the borrowing cycle just to continue the transaction.
The sum of next year’s expenditure estimates are KSh4.24 trillion, but KSh876 billion has not yet been funded, requiring more borrowing, KSh284 billion from foreign KSh592 billion.
Economists have raised concerns, warning that without major change, Kenya could fall into financial distress.
The situation has already been revealed, due to delays in payments to the county, unpaid contractors, and the accumulation of increasing bills.
