Magwanga, speaking at a press conference at his home in Kabuor Village, Kasipul Parliament, on Monday, May 12, said his financial contribution to the funeral of Kasipul MP killed Were was restored without explanation.
The support, he noted, was provided with a good intention to honor a co -worker and a co -leader.
“This was my MP and colleague. I made my contribution with good intentions, but later it was returned for no reason,” he said.
He further explained that although he found rumors that some people were seeking to kill him, he did not pay much attention until the restoration of his contribution and the next shot made everything look connected.
“After Were’s death, there were rumors that I was targeted. I didn’t think much until the contribution was returned, and now this shot, everything is starting to be connected,” he said.
Did the Magwanga offend other leaders during the funeral of Ongo Were?
Magwanga also pointed to tensions over the worship of the late MP, claiming his emphasis that Were should be buried in the home of his ancestors in Kasipul may be offensive to some political players.
“Some people did not want the MP to be buried in Kasipul, but I stood up with what was right. Maybe that didn’t stay well,” he added.
Despite escalating tensions, the deputy governor dismissed any proposals that he could resign, announcing that he would not be threatened to resign.
Kasipul politician Newton Ogada, who was present at a meeting with the media, called on the government to intervene.
“We have already lost one leader. We cannot endanger another from politics,” Ogada said.
Homa Bay County Police Commander, Lawrence Koilem, confirmed the incident and said the investigation was ongoing. He made sure that the safety of the Magwanga would be enhanced.
Magwanga concluded by demanding stability and dialogue between regional leaders.
“Violence will not resolve anything. Let us choose negotiations with unity instead of divisions. We cannot afford to lose another leader due to political differences,” he said.
The deputy governor believes the case has not been excluded. He suspects that it is part of a broad political conspiracy that is targeting him, especially from an attempt to lure anonymous people near his house on Sunday night, May 11.

How did Magwanga survived in a murder attempt?
Magwanga reported that he was heading home at nine o’clock in the afternoon, when he received intelligence reports that the suspects were following him.
Based on that advice, he changed his normal route and warned his family to open the gate in hopes of his arrival, and allowed him to arrive home safely.
Magwanga said at the same time, a car carrying his defense, heading to help him, was attacked by gunmen, who apparently thought he was inside.
It is alleged that the invaders fired shots and caused the officers to shoot and forced the invaders to flee to nearby shrubs.
