Homa Bay – The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has given him Ongho Were, a killed Kasipul MP, a decent funeral.

The Orange Party honored the late wishes of the deceased in a funeral service full of colors and intense emotions, where his funeral turned into a political ceremony of his life and his loyalty to the party.

Were, who was a voice MP from ODM and a sincere supporter of the party leader Raila Odingahe had recorded a heartfelt message during the funeral of 2024 by ODM Chairman of Migori County, Philip Odero Makabong’o.

In a video clip that emerged again after his shocking death, Were made it clear that he wished to be buried with a party flag and surrounded by ODM supporters, if he died.

“I rest, I ask our ODM people to shut me down with the party flag, and come in abundance.“He said while he was cheering vigorously.

Did the ODM party honor Were’s request?

In fact, the party and its supporters came out with great power to respect him as he wished he was alive.

The funeral service, held at his home in Kachien village, Homa Bay County, was an orange sea with ODM officials, local leaders, party supporters, and thousands of mourners gathering in solidarity.

The coffin covered by the ODM flag was a powerful symbol of Were’s political journey and his sincere love for the party.

Suba MP in the north, Millie Odhiambowhile addressing the ritual, he emphasized that the decision to run the funeral in a religious and political style was in accordance with the open instructions he had left late.

His words were very excited, especially when he said that the party was fulfilling its legal and political obligations.

Odhiambo explained that a large number of people who emerged with the good reception of the Were body from the people of Homa Bay were amazing.

He also responded to critics who asked why the funeral seemed like an ODM political meeting, saying that Were himself made it clear how he wanted to be done.

“Some people ask, why are we turning the funeral into an ODM meeting? Have you seen Were himself wrote his will and said we should do it. So as an attorney, I tell you we are doing something legal, and we are doing something political; that’s the case. He said.

Why didn’t Salasya attend Were’s funeral?

Earlier, Mumias East MP Peter Salasya expressed his sadness for failing to attend Were’s funeral.

He said he was in Mombasa for his presidential campaigns, so it would not be possible to arrive.

Salasya sent condolences to the Were and Kasipul family, saying he had sent his personal contribution and plans to visit them soon.
