1. The Standard

The Standard newspaper reported on a state of uncertainty about the fate of the cooperation agreement between the ODM and UDA, following a difference between Raila Odinga’s partners on support for the government.

The two parties joined the agreement to cooperate on 10 key issues in March this year.

It was expected that by the existence of the agreement, supporters of the two leaders would suspend their differences and cooperate.

However, some ODM members have been openly different about the agreement, and began to attack each other while each holding their position.

Some of them have blamed their colleagues for deceiving Raila. Saboti MP, Caleb Amisi, is among the senior members who oppose the alliance between ODM and UDA.

Amisi has warned that if Raila does not separate himself from those who mislead him, then the future of the ODM party will be in doubt and his chance to become president will one day be faded.

In addition, Amisi accused President Ruto of trying to weaken ODM from within by using political tactics while increasing the influence of UDA.

He said the opposition strongholds have not yet benefited from the program, and only a few people close to Raila who got the position in the state.

He added, “The union of conflicting ideology has never brought a solution to any democracy. Ruto is destroying ODM from within, and we will remain nothing.”

For his part, Raila emphasized that ODM is not in government, but is cooperating with the ruling party to address the problems facing Kenyans.

President Ruto officially received reports on the election process of the IEBC chairman and commissioners on Tuesday, May 6, in the Nairobi palace.

The report was submitted by members of the nomination panel led by Nelson Makanda, after the interview and assessment process lasted for about a month.

Sources have stated that the panel gave Amadi the highest position due to his excellent performance during the interview.

However, the entry of former Minister of Internal Security, Fred Matiang’i, in the political arena could hamper the role of Nyachae, who is said to be his father’s cousin.

Other candidates for the position include Saul Simiyu Wasilwa, Abdulqadir Lorot Ramadhan, Joy Mdivo, Edward Katama Ngeywa, Erastus Edung Ethekon, Francis Kakai Kissinger, Jacob Ngwele Muvengei, Lilian Wanjiku Manegene, and Robert Asembu Asembo.
