Murang’a: Ngiriambu girls’ school students have died

Families, friends and students of Ngiambu Girls High School are mourning following the death of young student Anastacia Wanjiku.

A cloud of sadness spread in Giteti village, Murang’a County when his late colleagues Wanjiku and his family gave him final honors on his funeral on Tuesday, May 6.

Many of the students in attendance broke down the cry during worship in the church, while others struggled to prevent emotions as they gave their condolences to their loved one.

In online videos, some girls seemed to cover their lips and faces with a handkerchief as they cried out in pain of losing a friend and a classmate. Some left the scene, as if they wanted to calm themselves down, with some parents rushed to comfort their daughters.

What happened to Anastacia Wanjiku

The young girl had left home happy to start a new term following the opening of the school on April 28.

It is said he climbed Three Of the Sacco Keeping at the Tea Room, in the heart of Nairobi, to Kerugoya, Kirinyaga, where his school is located.

At the bus station, he met with 13 other girls who climbed the same three, not knowing the disaster was waiting for them.

The journey back to school began, but for Luck Worse, they had an accident in the Riandira area, Sagana.

Wanjiku died instantly, while his three -year -old colleagues suffered multiple injuries as a result of the accident.

According to some students, the driver was quick to bring them down to return to pick up other students, as it was the season for many students to return to school.

Some claimed that the driver was talking by phone – an act that may have contributed to the tragic accident.

Wanjiku came from a low -income family and was seen as the family’s hope.

His studies were funded by Karura Community Chapel who had great confidence in his good future – which is now suddenly interrupted.

Kenyans expressed sadness and anger online, many criticizing poor road safety implementation and the negligence of the third sector.

Initially, TUKO.co.ke reported about the sadness of one family after their daughter who passed the KCSE 2024 exam was in bed at the hospital and received a Plain mark.

Harriet Myles Awuor was even awarded KSh 100,000 by his school for his unique success, just a few weeks before he died.

However, he did not attend the gift ceremony at the school, as he was hospitalized for treatment where he eventually passed away.
