Nairobi – Four suspects linked to the brutal killing of Kasipul MP, Charles Ong’ongo Were, have been arrested.

The arrest of the suspect took place on Saturday night on May 3, in an operation in the Eastlands, Nairobi, led by the technical squad of the operation unit from the headquarters DCI.

DCI director Mohamed Amin confirmed that the arrest of the suspect was a major step in the investigation of the death, saying:

“We have one important suspect, and we are still looking for others,” he said.

Amin also revealed that investigative officers continue to monitor the weapons used in the killings, the source of the killings, the partners of the crime, and the motorcycle used in the attack.

What did DCI find during the investigation of Were’s death?

In addition, investigative officers who received the responsibility of investigating the case were able to get one car and three motorcycles supposed to be used by suspected followers.

Initially, security cameras caught the car through various roads including Parliament, Kenyatta Avenue, Jakaya Kikwete Road, Wabera Street, Argwings Kodhek Road, City Hall Way, and Valley Road – the way the MP had used before the shooting.

Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has praised the police for the steps they have taken in the investigation and urged them to provide regular public information on the development of the case.

“I am encouraged and dedicated to @npsofficial_ke and @dci_kenya in investigating the brutal murder of Mr. Charles Ong’ongo Were. May I increase their efforts and provide regular statements to the nation,” he said.

The attacker who shot Were closely inside a traffic jam on Ngong road was reportedly wearing a helmet with shorts to hide his identity.

Authorities are continuing the investigation and urges suspects arrested to report on the weapon used, the cause of the murder, and other people involved in the crime.

Meanwhile, Kaluma expressed sadly when he saw the body of the late Kasipul MP, Charles Ong’ongo Were, hung at Nairobi Hospital.

Kaluma said the body had many bullets – including hands, sidewalks, shoulder, and stomach – indicating that the attack was carried out in aggressively and technically.

He said the way the shooting showed that the deceased might have tried to protect himself after the first shot, but he was fired more.

Kaluma believes the killings were so skillfully carried out and confidently that it might have been carried out by a person who had internal knowledge and high security training, who could track the MP’s car to the police -controlled traffic congestion.
