What is Atwoli’s advice to President William Ruto?
According to Atwoli, Kenya’s political culture has long been tolerant and even encouraging fierce opposition, often without regard to the success of the incumbent leaders.
Gave an example of former presidents Mwai Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta As leaders who have been blamed for the strongness despite making great progress.
“I was there when Kibaki was president, improved transportation in Nairobi and did a lot of good things, but in 2007, these citizens voted for him, we had to make reconciliation,” Atwoli said, adding that those are not new.
He also described the difference of the performance between Independence and Ruto, saying that the current president has continued to be seen across the country, unlike his predecessor.
In a direct message to Ruto, Atwoli gave a strong position to encourage him, demanding that he stand up.
“These Kenyans you hear saying ‘Citizen is upset,’ ‘Ruto must leave’ … not that the people are angry, they are not supportive. Give someone a chance to work. You just do your job, and if there are mistakes we will tell you. Atwoli added.
