Speaking during an interview with Classic 105 FM, Salasya narrated that during her preschool years, politics was the last thing in her mind.
“I was not a politician; these are the works of God. I was a boy of this, very calm,” He said, describing his youth as a protected and only elite.
However, everything changed when he joined Egerton University. It was there, Salasya revealed, that his first steps toward leadership began, not through elections, but with compassion.
“In my first year, I gathered the students to collect the clothes they had, which we would send to the street families,” He explained.
Every Saturday, the group would cook food, talk, and provide incentives to the needy in the Moi garden there Nakuru.
Salasya said that the program had expanded its influence among his colleagues. Finally, friends encouraged him to focus on the leadership of the students, at first for fun and to promote support for charity donations.
“When I graduated from college, my classmates told me to run for the elected seat when I returned home,” He remembered.
What made Salasya run for parliament in East Mumias?
Salasya’s political awareness came in 2012, during his third year in Egerton. He had invited a former Mumias MP to talk about leadership and community service.
“I didn’t know much about home because I visited a few times,” He admitted. “But when I returned, I heard the MP speak in a way that was completely opposed to what he told us at the University. It was very different. That’s when I realized the politicians were cheating our people.”

Desperate and encouraged to the same extent, Salasya recognized the leadership gap in East Mumias and made a brave decision to run for the post.
“I was a little boy,” He said. “I emerged last with 254 votes. I cried a lot and realized that the voters had cheated on me. When I recovered, I lifted myself up and started again. ”
What did Salasya tell the youth, leaders who want to be leaders?
The young MP warned that winning the election requires more than the presence of strong social networks; It claims a tangible work on the ground.
“I was giving KSh 200 to the funeral. I asked people to accept me despite my poor condition,” he said. “I didn’t have money for posters, so I wrote my name on every natural resources I could find, stones, mangoes, everywhere.”
Salasya also opened up about the challenges facing young parliamentarians in parliament. He complained of systemic threats from senior politicians and bias claims from the Speaker in favor of experienced MPs.
“We are not given a chance to speak in parliament, if you raise the hand it is ignored, and they prefer their friends,” He complained.
Despite the challenges, Salasya expressed faith in his performance, confidently claiming to be one of the best parliamentarians in Kenya.
Looking forward, he pointed to the desires more than East Mumias.
“People love me, and I’m an actor,” he insisted. “Some people see me as a joke, but I want to tell you I am one of the most independent people in Parliament. I am one of the few leaders who have a real relationship with Kenyans.”
