On April 29, Kenyans woke up with sad news about the death of veteran media broadcaster Edward Kwach.

His death occurred just a few weeks after his famous fellow presenter, Caroline Mutokointroducing blood donation to help Kwach, who was hospitalized at Coptic Hospital in Nairobi.

At the time, Mutoko revealed that Kwach was serious and needed four pints of blood in an emergency, with doctors struggling to increase the level of hemoglobin in his body.

“Doctors are struggling to increase the amount of iron and hemoglobin in his body, and four pints of blood are needed. If you can donate blood, please visit the laboratory at Coptic Hospital and explain that it is for Edward Kchch,” It said Mutoko’s statement.

With great sadness, on April 28, Kwach died while still receiving treatment.

According to a family statement shared by Michael Okwiri, the presenter died of meningitis, a condition that had been in the hospital for several weeks.

What is meningitis?

Meningitis is a serious disease caused by membrane (meninges) around the brain and spinal cord.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), meningitis can be caused by bacterial, viral or fungal infections.

WHO emphasizes that bacterial meningitis is the most severe and dangerous form of the disease.

This disease spreads very quickly and can cause death if it is not treated on time.

If you are not treated, you can cause lasting side effects such as brain disability, blindness, or learning problems.

In what ways do meningitis cause deaths?

WHO notes that bacteria can enter the bloodstream and attack the membrane of the brain, which causes inflammation and high pressure in the brain and spinal cord.

Symptoms include severe fever, severe headaches, neck stabilizing, light -affected, confusion and epilepsy.

Why did Edward Kwach may not be able to recover?
