Who was Pope Francis’s nurse?

The intervention was later recognized by the Pope himself as it saved his life.

According to the Vatican News, Massimiliano was more than just guardian; It was a trusted companion who stood next to Pope Francisko in his most dangerous times.

This includes the 38 days that the Pope stayed in hospital at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital after fighting a serious pneumonia case and even staying with him when he recovered at Casa Santa Marta of the Vatican.

What was the last statement that Pope Francis told his nurse?

As the Passover approached, the Pope, despite his weak health, was determined to appear the last time at St. Peter’s Square.

Before doing so, he asked his nurse:

“Do you think I can manage it?”

After attending the Easter celebration successfully, the Pope later expressed his sincere thanks to Massimiliano, telling him:

“Thank you for bringing me back to the field.”

The appearance of the Passover would be its last public participation.

The Vatican confirmed that after the Easter Sunday service, the Pope rested and had a quiet evening.

The next morning, about 5:30 AM, the symptoms of a sudden illness began to appear, and despite the immediate intervention, his condition deteriorated quickly.

About an hour later, lying on his second floor in Casa Santa Marta, the Pope gave Massimiliano in silence, raising his hand at the last sign and shortly afterwards, he fell into a coma.

“He passed in peace, without suffering or visible fear. His was a wise death, almost suddenly, without prolonged suffering or public fear,” Vatican sources reported.
