New reports show a Kenyan relative died trying to rescue friends in the UAE fire

  • Prior to his death, the man was known by the name of BK had awakened his colleagues and directed them on how to avoid missing air during fire

New reports have emerged about a Kenyan citizen who was among the five people who died in a fire accident of the Al Nahda Tower in Sharjah on Sunday, April 13.

The 52 -storey building, one of the tallest buildings in the area with more than 1,500 residents of various nations, is well -known for the protection of many Kenyans working in the UAE.

According to the Khaleej Times, one of the media in the UAE, the Kenyan known in the first letters BK reportedly trying to save himself from the building by dropping by using cables outside the apartment.

A close friend and fellow tenant, Aby, said that he might have lost balance and collapsed to death.

“Maybe he thought that was the only way to get out. He might have seen cables outside the window and believed he could go down to use them – but he must have slipped and collapsed,” Aby said.

Aby, who survived the fire, remembered how BK made heroic efforts before the tragedy.

He said BK was the first to discover the heavy black smoke entering their house in the 52 -storey building.

“It was the end of the week, many of us were still sleeping when the smoke started to enter our room. He said.

He added that the condition of the sadness ranged as soon as the smoke intensified, but BK remained calm, advising his colleagues to cover their faces to avoid lack of air.

While Aby and others were rescued by the civilian defense force, BK was no longer seen.

“We knew what happened after being saved. There was violence out – the police, the fire, the people everywhere.

Aby, in tears, described BK as a cheerful and funny. BK was working in a mall and had moved to the building recently to reduce the cost of taxes.

“I still don’t believe he has left us,” Aby said.

How did four other people die from the fire?

It is reported that four victims collapsed trying to escape the blaze, while another believed to die from a heart attack, may be due to fear.

One of the two unidentified victims – believed to be a Kenyan named by the same name – was burned to anonymity, which makes it difficult to identify him.

Authorities have not yet identified the source of the fire. Sharjah police have said an investigation is ongoing.

According to police, the fire originated in one of the upper floors, resulting in a rapid evacuation of hundreds of residents.
