Karanja Mogire: A photographer who survived a helicopter tragedy that killed General Ogolla is tasked

Mogire appeared at the launch of the President’s Health Care Fund William Ruto.

How many soldiers perished with Ogolla?

In 2024, CDF Francis Ogolla was traveling on a military pitflower and 11 others when the helicopter collapsed in Kaben, border between Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot County, resulting in the deaths of nine people and two rescuers.

Brigadier Swale Saidi, Colonel Duncan Keittany, Lieutenant Colonel David Sawe, Major George Benson Magondu, Captain Sora Mohamed, Captain Hillary Litali, Senior Sergeant John Kinyua Mureithi, Sergeant Cliphonce Omondi, and Sergeant Rose Nyawira perished on the side of Ogolla.

At the time, reports stated that Mogire was in hospital undergoing treatment.

About a year later, he appeared again at work, and Kenyans wondered how life had changed for the young photographer.

He witnessed the time of changing life that would last forever in his memories, thanking heaven for saving his life.

What did Francis Ogolla’s will say?

Other news, Kenyans received the content of Ogolla’s will, which left his relatives out and wished them only good success.

He had directed how his assets would be divided into a will he prepared in 2012.

Ogolla’s will said that his widow, Aileen, would be worth 50% of her property, and the remaining 50% would be divided between her son and daughter, Joel and Lorna.

Joel would also take on his father’s personal property and works of art.
