The students from Mpeketon were enjoying their time after leaving the church when the sad story occurred.

Citizen TV reported that the teacher was also at risk of drowning but was rescued by divers.

However, the three young men were not blessed, as they lost their lives despite efforts to rescue them.

Lamu drivers warn about strong winds in the sea

According to eyewitnesses, the strong winds that were there when the youngsters swim may have contributed to the water.

The driver, Bashir Tora, called on parents and teachers accompanying children or students to swim to be more careful when the wind was strict to avoid traumatic events.

“This is a demonic season, and you will see that the sea changes in such times, from April, May, and June. The sea is dangerous,” he said.

He also advised to make sure that the divers are around to ensure safety and immediate response if an emergency occurs.
