Kirinyaga – Normal timber transport turned out to be bad when a freight truck left the Kaboro bridge in Gichugu, and plunged into the Nyamindi River and killed two people.

In Thursday, April 10, a car carrying five people lost control in the dangerous Kaboro at seven o'clock at night.
According to a Citizen Digital report, the dead were identified as Grace Kithii, a secretary at Kiamugumo Girls Secondary School, and her nephew, Vincent Kiura, who was driving the car.
Ngariama ward representative Daniel Muriithi Kibinga revealed that the two had a close and well -known relationship in the local community.
“The man who was the driver was the woman's nephew, it is very sad because her husband who was a bank employee died recently,” Said Kibinga.

Confirming the incident, the Gichugu County Police Commander said that three people in the car were able to escape with minor injuries.
However, Grace and Vincent's bodies are left in the sinking car.
“We are still investigating the cause of the accident. Our team has been at the scene since last night, in conjunction with local residents to cool the car and to recover the bodies,” The police commander said.
Rescue efforts have been interrupted by the rigorous stream of the river and the presence of large stones, making it dangerous for divers and rescue teams.

Kibinga and citizens were saddened by the increase in accidents in the area stating that the disaster was not excluded.
Residents from Karucho and Mbiri, who camped on the river edge overnight, found the car's number under the stream.
They have also called on both government levels to work to ensure the road is in good condition to avoid accidents.
