On Tuesday, April 8, the Farmers' Association announced plans to withdraw from the Union of Kenya first.

Why does the farmers' party want to withdraw from Kenya first

In a letter sent to the Chairman of the Secretariat of the Union of Kenya First, the party has issued a 30 -day notice to withdraw from the Ruto Union.

“Thus, the Farmers' Association issues thirty (30) days of the purpose of withdrawing from the Kenyan Union, in accordance with section 8 (termination) of the Union agreement,” the letter reads partially.

The Farmers' Association blamed the Ruto Democratic Alliance (UDA) for frequent lack of trust, political infidelity, and completely non -compliance with the Kenyan Constitution (2010) and the direction of our Union agreement.

“However, it is with great sadness that we recognize a strong style of integrity, political trust and completely ignoring the Constitution of Kenya (2010) and the direction of our Union agreement,” The party said.

The party mentioned a recent agreement between Ruto and the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Raila Odinga.

According to the Farmers' Association, the agreement between Ruto and the former prime minister violates the trust that the Kenyan Union was first formed.

“The recent signing of the broader government agreement between the Kenyan Union First Coalition and the ODM party without consultation or involvement of parties that form Kenya first as our is the final proof of the political cunning that has come to define the alliance. He said.

Did Ruto cheer Irungu Nyakera

The latest comes just days after Ruto dismissed the founder of the Farmers' Association, Irungu Nyakera.

The president dismissed Nyakera, chairman of the Kenyatta International Convention Center, less than eight months after taking over and replaced by Samuel Mwangi from Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

Nyakera's dismissal came just days after announcing that he would not accompany Ruto on his visit to Mount Kenya.

Political analysts claimed that Nyakera's decision to skip Ruto's visit may have angered the head of state, given that all government officials are expected to follow the head of state.
