Nairobi – The Office of the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has launched an investigation into the violence witnessed in Mwiki's Church, Kasarani Sub -County where the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua He was attending.

According to DCIThe church event was hit by chaos when more than 100 motorcycles, each with two to three passengers, when they entered the hall from Kangundo Road shortly after the expedition of the former Deputy President arrived.
The group, which is said to be a riot, allegedly invaded the church area and began claiming money from politicians present.
The gunfire was heard during the border, which led to an immediate response from the Mwiki police station soldiers.
“Police at Mwiki police station heard gunshots at the church field, and was encouraged to evict the robbers, who went back and to normal returned,” DCI said.
Who fired a shot during the violence?
The authorities have confirmed that gunfire came from VIP security officials and authorized civilian gun owners who took the initiative to protect officials against the crowd.
“So far, it has been noted that the gunfire heard in the church was fired by VIP security officials and people with a license to protect officials from the riot group,” The statement added.
In the incident, several people fled the scene, leaving ten motorcycles that were detained by police. Investigations are underway to identify and arrest those involved.
DCI also criticized the organizers of the event for not informing law enforcement officers about the existence of prominent foreigners.
“The Mwiki police order said that the church failed to inform the police about the planned operations … and, therefore, no early security measures were put in handy to address such an incident,” DCI noted.
DCI referred to the incident as tragic, noting that it was one of the same events that were recently witnessed across the country. The Police Force in the country has called on citizens to maintain stability during public events.
“Events involving violence and threats not only pollute the sanctity of social events but are also a serious threat to the well -being of all attendees. It is important for individuals to express their concerns through appropriate means rather than rushing to aggressive behavior that can cause serious consequences,” The statement read.

Following the incident, Gachagua accused President William Ruto and Governor of Nairobi Johnson Sakaja by planning a mess during church worship.
Gachagua described the outrage and political crisis has now invaded the sacred places, referring to them as a concern in Kenya's political sphere.
He issued a stern warning saying any attempt to remove him would not end his political influence but would confuse things with his opponents.
Despite the incident, Gachagua called on his followers to remain calm and obey the law. He said that he believes in God's protection and emphasized his commitment to not committing violence.
