President William Ruto has opened up about what caused the violence between him and former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.
He claimed that his deputy wanted KSh 10 billion to eradicate Mount Kenya's allegiance, a major voter area that now appears to be to beat the president.
During a joint interview with the media at the Sagana Sub -palace before his weekly visit to the area, Ruto He claimed that Gachagua had reached the point of threatening to make the president one term if he failed to comply with the demands.
The president revealed that he was surprised by Gachagua's statement but remained firm in his refusal to engage in political hooliganism.
“It came to me that someone told me,” You know, I (Rigathi Gachagua) can make you one president of one term if you don't do this, if you don't do this. I need ten billion shillings to go and talk to the people of the mountain, you know, to prepare politics for them, ” Ruto narrated.
Ruto made it clear that he had denied the request directly, choosing to place his faith in the Kenyan people instead of political cunning.
“I looked at the situation and said, 'I won't do that.” So I said to him, “This is impossible. And if it means to be a one -phase president, be it. Ruto said.
