Kalonzo Musyoka gives new wishes following concerns Ruto, Raila will steal 2027 votes

Nairobi – Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka has issued a new demand for President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga ahead of the 2027 general election.

In a letter to Raila and copy to the President, Kalonzo expressed his concern about the ongoing process of renovating the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

In his letter, the former Vice President clearly explained why consultation between senior political leaders is important in the electoral process.

According to Kalonzo, the president should consult with the opposition before appointing a new electoral commission.

However, the Wiper leader stressed that Raila could no longer represent the opposition's interest following his recent agreement with Ruto.

“I sincerely have the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), who are now on one side, should consult with us opposition to ensure the equity and inclusion process,” Said Kalonzo.

Kalonzo, who is one of the leaders of the Union of Union Declaration One Kenya Coalition Party, warned Ruto and Raila against continuing the appointment of the Chairman of the Electoral Commission and six commissioners without consultation and opposition.

He claimed that such a move would be considered a UDA-Hodm conspiracy to organize voter theft in the 2027 elections.

“To avoid confusion, if the UDA/ODM alliance will continue with the appointment of chairman of IEBC With commissioners without meaningful participation of the opposition, the move would be seen as an attempt to form an electoral commission with a particular wing and to arrange early voting in the next election,“He added.

The Wiper leader said the country could face problems such as those witnessed after the 2007 election if the opposition was not involved in the IEBC amendment.

Hopefully that the President will do the right thing, Kalonzo promised to oppose any action to undermine the authority of the Kenyan citizens.

Why Edwin Sifuna wasn't satisfied with the IEBC nomination panel?

In other news, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna expressed his dissatisfaction with the electoral commission's nomination panel.

The Nairobi senator, known for his open statements, claimed that the panel had failed to maintain the required standards in the selection process.

Through a post on his X account on Tuesday, March 25, Sifuna said he had not yet understood the criteria used by the panel in listing selected applicants.

Sifuna complained that long questions from the panelists prevented candidates from showing the unique qualities that make them qualify for the IEBC chairman.
