Nairobi: Stephen Munyakho, a Kenyan convicted of murder in Saudi Arabia, is expected to return to Kenya following the intervention of the Muslim community in the world.

Speaking on Tuesday, March 25, during a futar at the White House organized by the President William RutoThe United Democratic Alliance (UDA) secretary general, Hassan Omar, confirmed that the move followed a successful negotiation.

Omar said that the government of Kenya first It invited the Secretary -General of the Muslim World League in the White House, where the President sincerely asked for help in the case of Munyakho, who was facing the death penalty for murdering his colleague.

He said that their request was respected when the federation intervened and paid $ 1 million blood compensation – equivalent to KSh 129.5 million – to save Munyakho's life.

“The Saudi Arabian ambassador to Kenya and our ambassador to Saudi Arabia have confirmed that the request has been approved, and $ 1 million has been paid, so the Kenyan will return home safe,” Omar said.

The Secretary -General of the ruling party also called on Kenyans to respect foreign laws when traveling abroad, emphasizing that although the government could intervene, its authority is limited.

“If you decide to go to the people, respect the rules there. This is for Kenyans to become people who respect the law and love peace,” He insisted.
