Nairobi – Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga He has sought to dismiss the allegations that his agreement with the Democratic Union of President William Ruto (UDA) marks the beginning of the political alliance.

During the signing of the Memorandum of Convention (MoU) in the KICC on Friday, March 7, Raila said that the agreement was not about political unions but to seek solutions to important issues affecting the country.

Raila explained that the treaty has nothing to do with the political alliance but rather provides a clear system of dialogue and national stability.

“Today, we have signed a compromise agreement between the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). The main purpose of this MOU is to help reduce the tension in the country,” He explained.

However, the veteran politician pointed out that the successful implementation of the agreement could open the doors of broad political cooperation between the two sides.

“We make clear the treaty we have signed today does not specify the formation of a political coalition between ODM and UDA. However, its successful implementation can explain the basis of the steps to establish a broad and ongoing structure for a quiet country in the future, ” He announced.

What call did Raila make to Kenyans

Raila called on Kenyans to support the plan by saying that long -term stability in the country relies on leaders to work together rather than engaging in an endless political war.

“We urge all Kenyans who like to have a strong, universal, and progressive, political, and social isolation, to support this structure in the interests of our nation,” He said.

Raila suggested that ODM and UDA would use their influence to create a participatory platform that would address Kenya's emergency challenges.

“We have agreed to use our parties as a broad forum, which brings together various sounds, views and concerns to address the key issues facing the country,” He said.

Among the key issues that have been prioritized in Mou is youth unemployment, which Raila said has left many Kenyan youths discouraged and at stake.

As previously reported, the agreement emphasizes the full implementation of the National Committee on Negotiations (NADCO), which proposes a significant reform to address issues such as high cost of living and youth unemployment.
